The Bangor Daily News has announced its lineup for the 2013 BDN Maine What’s Next Conference presented by Bangor Savings Bank. The conference to be held August 9 on the Bangor Waterfront in conjunction with the KahBang Music Festival is part of a new initiative by Maine’s statewide newspaper to bring high caliber entertainment and participatory productions to Maine.
The daylong conference will feature 24 film, tech, social media, and business experts representing 20 cutting edge companies, and will be held in an innovative clear span structure on the Bangor Waterfront.
“This is the first time that a clear span structure has been set up on the Bangor Waterfront; it will really be something to see,” noted Lemieux. “It’s exciting to bring people like Chris Brogan of Human Business Works and Dan Fletcher, formally Facebook’s managing editor, to Bangor. I love being able to showcase an event that features such distinguished speakers discussing
social media, inbound marketing, video and app integration, and other tech and business topics.”
A complete lineup of speakers, topics, times, and ticket information is available here.
Each ticket will grant the attendee full access to the What’s Next Conference, a networking happy hour, and entrance into the entire KahBang Music Festival on the Bangor Waterfront July 9th & 10th.
The BDN Maine What’s Next Conference is presented by Bangor Savings Bank along with television sponsor WABI TV5.

The KahBang Festival in collaboration with Central Street Farmhouse and Nocturnem Draft Haus are proud to announce the return of the Bangor Brew Fest to the KahBang Festival.
On August 10th at the Bangor Waterfront, over 15 showcasing breweries, including Sierra Nevada, Unibroue, and Sam Adams, will be highlighted along with live music performances, exhibitors, and special guest speakers. The Bangor Brew Fest is about discovering new micro-brews, flavors and breweries.
“Nocturnem has always been on a mission to support the breweries that offer better beer choices in Maine and have spent many years cultivating relationships with them in hopes of promoting a Festival in our area. This year that becomes a reality. We are proud of our business, our home town, our constituents and our guests. We get asked the question, ‘Well, why would you pick Bangor?’ Our answer is ‘Why not Bangor!’”-Gene Beck, Owner of Nocturnem
The Bangor Brew Fest will consist of 3 separate sessions; an afternoon session from Noon – 3 pm, a special VIP session from 4 – 5 pm, and an evening session from 5 – 8 pm. Tickets to each session will go on sale May 10th, and are available here. The VIP session will feature samples of exclusive labels by select participating breweries.
Brew Fest ticket holders are invited to attend lectures throughout the day from brewing experts. Including special guest speaker John Palmer, author and self publisher of “How to Brew”, on Saturday, August 10th in the guest speaker tent. Home brewing and equipment demos will also be held on site throughout each Brew Fest session, and will be open to the public.
Also at the Brew Fest, Central Street Farmhouse will be announcing the 3rd annual Maine Homebrewers Competition finalists. Winners get a chance to brew with local brewmasters and one grand prize winner will have their recipe brewed professionally. Submissions for the competition will be accepted from July 5-July 19.
